Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 February 2026
Overview
This website is operated by Thicket & Thimble ("we", "us", "our"). We are a small business based in England, specialising in handcrafted heirloom dolls, loveys, and related products.
By using this website or placing an order with us, you agree to these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use this site.
These terms should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Shipping Policy, which form part of our agreement with you.
1. About Us
Thicket & Thimble is a sole trader registered in England. Our website is hosted by Shopify Inc., who provide the e-commerce platform through which we sell our products.
For questions about these terms, please contact us at hello@thicketandthimble.com.
2. Your Statutory Rights
Nothing in these Terms of Service affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, or any other applicable UK consumer protection legislation.
Under UK consumer law, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If a product does not meet these standards, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund. These rights cannot be excluded or limited by any terms of service.
3. Placing an Order
When you place an order through our website, you are making an offer to purchase. We will confirm receipt of your order by email, but this does not mean we have accepted it. Acceptance occurs when we dispatch your order and send a shipping confirmation.
We reserve the right to decline any order at our discretion — for example, if a product is out of stock, if there is an error in pricing, or if we suspect the order is fraudulent.
You must provide accurate and complete billing, shipping, and contact information when placing an order. We are not responsible for delays or non-delivery caused by incorrect details.
4. Pricing and Payment
All prices are displayed in GBP (British Pounds Sterling) unless you have selected a different currency. Prices shown in other currencies are approximate conversions and your payment provider may apply a different exchange rate.
We make every effort to ensure pricing is accurate. If we discover an error in the price of a product you have ordered, we will contact you to offer you the option of continuing at the correct price or cancelling your order. If we are unable to reach you, the order will be cancelled and you will receive a full refund.
Prices are subject to change without notice, but changes will not affect orders that have already been confirmed and dispatched.
5. Our Products
Handmade Nature
All Thicket & Thimble products are handmade. Due to the handcrafted nature of our work, slight variations in colour, size, and finish may occur between individual items. These variations are a natural characteristic of handmade goods, not defects, and make each piece unique.
We use natural materials including Irish linen, European wool felt, and Liberty print fabrics. Natural materials may vary slightly in colour and texture between batches.
Product Images
We make every effort to display product colours and details accurately. However, colours may appear differently depending on your screen, monitor settings, and lighting conditions. This does not constitute a defect.
Limited Editions and Seasonal Products
Some products are available in limited quantities or for a limited time. We reserve the right to discontinue any product without notice. We cannot guarantee availability of any product.
Pre-Orders and Made-to-Order Items
Where we accept pre-orders or made-to-order commissions, estimated dispatch dates will be provided at the time of purchase. These are estimates only and may be subject to change. If there is a significant delay, we will notify you and offer the option to cancel for a full refund.
6. Product Classifications and Safety
Our products fall into distinct categories with different intended uses:
Decorative Art Pieces (Heirloom Collection)
Our Heirloom dolls are handcrafted collectible art pieces intended for decorative display only. They are not classified as toys and have not been tested or certified under the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011 (UK) or EN 71 safety standards. Heirloom dolls:
- Are labelled "DECORATIVE USE ONLY"
- Contain small decorative parts, long fabric ties, and delicate hand embroidery
- Are not suitable for children under any age as play items
- Should be kept out of reach of young children
- Are intended to be displayed, collected, and treasured as decorative objects
By purchasing an Heirloom doll, you acknowledge that it is a decorative art piece and not a toy, and you accept responsibility for ensuring it is used and displayed appropriately.
Children's Products (Keepsake and Lovey Collections)
Our Keepsake and Lovey dolls have been tested and certified under applicable UK safety standards (CE and UKCA marked) and are suitable for gentle play for children aged 3 and up. Please observe all age recommendations and care instructions provided with the product. Adult supervision is recommended for young children.
7. Shipping and Delivery
We ship using Royal Mail within the UK and internationally. Full details of shipping methods, costs, and estimated delivery times are set out in our Shipping Policy and on our FAQs page.
Delivery times are estimates and not guaranteed. We are not responsible for delays caused by Royal Mail, customs processing, or other circumstances beyond our control.
Once an order has been dispatched, we are unable to change the delivery address or influence delivery times.
International Orders
For orders shipped outside the United Kingdom, the recipient is responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, or fees levied by the destination country. These charges are not included in our product prices or shipping costs, and we have no control over them.
We are not responsible for delays caused by customs inspection or processing.
8. Returns and Refunds
Our returns and refunds process is set out in full in our Refund Policy.
In summary: you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return. Items must be unused, in original condition, with tags and packaging. Custom and personalised items, sale items, and gift cards cannot be returned.
This is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under UK consumer law (see Section 2).
9. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including but not limited to product designs, character names and likenesses (such as Hebe Hare, Fenella Fawn, Delphine Dormouse, and all other Thicket & Thimble characters), photographs, illustrations, text, logos, and branding — is the intellectual property of Thicket & Thimble and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, copy, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from any of our designs, characters, images, or content without our express written permission. This includes but is not limited to:
- Reproducing or imitating our character designs
- Using our photographs for commercial purposes
- Copying our product descriptions or website content
Purchases of our products grant you ownership of the physical item only, not any intellectual property rights in the design.
10. User Content
If you submit reviews, comments, photographs, or other content to us (via the website, email, or social media), you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, and display that content in connection with our business — for example, sharing customer photos on our social media or website.
You retain ownership of any content you submit. You are responsible for ensuring that anything you submit does not infringe the rights of any third party and does not contain unlawful, offensive, or harmful material.
We reserve the right to remove any user content at our discretion.
11. Website Use
You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Use the site in any way that is unlawful or fraudulent

- Scrape, crawl, or collect data from the site without permission
- Copy or redistribute any part of the site's content (see Section 9)
We reserve the right to restrict or terminate access to the website for anyone who violates these terms.
12. Third-Party Links and Services
Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services (such as payment providers, shipping carriers, and social media platforms). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of these external sites.
Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and conditions. We encourage you to review them.
13. Personal Information and Privacy
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy. By using this website, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in that policy.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, and without affecting your statutory rights as a consumer:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the website or our products.
- Our total liability to you in connection with any order shall not exceed the amount you paid for that order.
- We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to postal delays, customs actions, natural disasters, or disruptions to internet services.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any matter for which it would be unlawful to exclude or limit liability.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The most current version will always be available on this page, with the date of the last update shown at the top.
Changes will not apply retrospectively to orders already placed. By continuing to use the website after changes are posted, you accept the updated terms.
16. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms of Service are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If you have a complaint, please contact us first at hello@thicketandthimble.com and we will do our best to resolve it. If we cannot resolve the matter between us, you may be able to use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform or other alternative dispute resolution services.
17. General
- If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
- Our failure to enforce any provision of these terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision.
- These Terms of Service, together with our Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Shipping Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Thicket & Thimble regarding your use of this website.
